Musk Condemns Trump’s Budget Plan

(MENAFN) Business magnate Elon Musk launched a fresh criticism of U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposed budget legislation on Saturday, describing it as “utterly insane” and cautioning that it would propel the country into “debt slavery” while eliminating countless jobs.

Once considered political allies, tensions between Musk and Trump have escalated sharply, particularly following the unveiling of what Trump dubbed a “big, beautiful” tax and expenditure plan.

The outspoken head of Tesla and SpaceX voiced his opposition just hours before Republican lawmakers in the Senate pushed the bill forward in a narrow 51-49 procedural vote.

Vice President J.D. Vance remained prepared to cast a tiebreaker if necessary.

Using his platform on X, Musk strongly denounced the proposed legislation, declaring, “The latest Senate draft bill will destroy millions of jobs in America and cause immense strategic harm to our country!”

His post was part of a larger thread where he repeatedly criticized the bill for promoting what he referred to as “industries of the past,” a likely reference to support for traditional energy sectors such as oil and gas.

Instead, Musk argued that the bill would undermine innovation in forward-thinking areas like clean energy and advanced technologies.

He emphasized that the proposed USD5 trillion rise in the national debt ceiling would accelerate the nation’s descent into “debt slavery,” pointing to public opinion polls indicating that many Republican voters are against the legislation due to financial prudence concerns.
